The Van Cortlandt Jewish Center’s Sunday lecture series continues on March 15, 2020 with a lecture by Rabbi Yale Butler. His topic will be “From Tourism to Terrorism – How I Got China to Stop Aiding Terrorists in Israel”.

About Our Speaker, Rabbi Yale Butler

A graduate of Yeshiva University with a major in psychology and Hebrew, Rabbi Yale Butler also attended its Ferkauf Graduate School of Education and its affiliated REITS Seminary. He is fluent in Hebrew and Yiddish and conversant in French, German and some Spanish.

An experienced and effective public speaker, a seasoned news professional, educator, clergyman and administrator, he has served in educational, journalistic and clerical positions in the United States and Canada. In those capacities, he honed his skills in areas of public relations and community organization.

For 18 years he edited and published Los Angeles’ pioneer 100 year-old Jewish weekly, the B’nai B’rith Messenger, (named for L.A’s first Synagogue) where he wrote a weekly column and authored numerous articles and commentaries on communal, national and international affairs. In his capacity as a journalist, he has been to the White House nine times, met with numerous Presidents and Prime Ministers and traveled extensively in the US, to Israel, Europe, Turkey, Russia, China and Japan, meeting and interviewing civic and government leaders. He served as a consultant on American Jewry to Israel’s Ministry of Tourism.

He currently serves as Senior Vice President for Educational Advancement for a national educational non-profit, having served as Dean of Administration for a boutique college in New Jersey and as Director of Community Programming for two colleges of a major University System based in New York.
